ART OF MUSIC at the palmer museum (12:00 – 4:00PM) – Supported BY mOUNTAIN SOUND & eQUIPMENT

Focusing on the artistic edge of local music, this stage features local musicians who offer something unique to the Alaskan music scene – stuff you don’t always hear in the Alaskan summer festival circuit!

11:00-11:45AM     Palmer Arts Council Summer Youth Band                     Every year the Palmer Arts Council Youth Band performs at the Garden and Art Fair, showcasing youth from around the Mat-Su who are in the early stage of their musical careers.  Who knows which of our stages these students might find themselves performing on in coming years?

12:00 – 12:45PM   MatSu Community Choir

1:00 -1:45PM         Jerry Wessling Band                                                           This duo do two shows, one that is singer-songwriter fair, but this show is different from that – exploring classical and Spanish guitar themes, the Jerry Wessling Band is a display of instrumental skill that will mesmerize even the most seasoned music aficionado.

2:00 – 2:45PM        Meggie Aubie                                                                     The marimba is a unique instrument, rarely presented in this summer fair environment, except in Palmer, where Meggie is a mainstay of local music academia.  Besides having a doctorate music degree, and teaching scores of students, Meggie is the consummate musical performer.

3:00 – 3:45PM        UTN                                                                             Reunited, Unite the North has been out of the game for a while.  One of the few hip hop acts in Alaska, and in the Mat Su, the members of UTN are the Alaskan ambassadors of rhyme over beat.  UTN has 3 albums under their belt, and this newest incarnation of the group will continue it’s mission of Unity in the Alaskan hip hop community.

4:00 – 4:45PM       The Whee Duet Band                                                               This band pays homage to our past by performing tunes from the 1950’s and 1960’s.
